As a father of daughters, not once, not twice, but three times over, these so-called pre-teen and teen "model" web sites concern me tremendously. If you don't know about them let me give you a little insight into this new internet craze. Basically child "model" sites are exploding in popularity. My concern is to whom these sites are attracting. Judging by the content, a good 90% of teen model sites are visited by pedophiles. And it's no wonder when you see the web banners advertising "sexy little girls", and "little nymphos" 7-14yrs old.

Technically these sites are supposedly in business to showcase profiles intended for legitimate modeling agencys who hire child models for advertising. The real truth is many, if not all, are flat out child pornography. Countless pre-teen and teen model sites are membership sites packed with hundreds of pictures of very young girls in provocative outfits, usually panties or bikinis, photographed in seductive and sexual adult poses. It would be astonishing to see just how many members are legitimate agencys, and how many are adult men (and I'm sure some women) with no ties to the modeling or acting world at all.

Again, as a father of three young daughters this is of special concern to me. But it should be of incredible concern to anyone who cares about the development of children, both physically and mentally. I can not even imagine allowing any of my girls to take part in one photo shoot dressed as they are. Where are these children's parents? Who are these children's parents? Some I'm sure feel it is completely innocent, and have big stars in their eyes about their "little baby" landing this huge modeling contract making millions. Some are just after the short term dollars they are being paid for the photos. Either way, it's not "modeling" plain and simple.

Don't just take my word for it, listen to the story of Savannah Haile, a 12 year old girl who's case led to federal porn charges against the operators of a Florida based pre-teen model site.

Other cases involve operators of “model” sites who crossed the legal line, either by possessing child pornography — a violation of federal law — or photos or videos showing underage girls in various states of undress that ran afoul of state laws against sexual exploitation of children, according to authorities.

The cases appear to provide new ammunition to critics of the “model” sites, which charge members a monthly fee to view photos of under-18 girls — including some as young as 8 or 9 — wearing revealing attire and striking suggestive poses. The majority of the sites do not feature nudity or overtly sexual material, but the cases currently in the courts indicate that some operators are happy to push the envelope.

Two members of Congress — Reps. Mark Foley, R-Fla., and Nick Lampson, D-Texas — have introduced legislation to crack down on the sites, which they say appeal to and are likely to encourage pedophiles.

I encourage everyone, parents or not, to voice opposition of child "model" sites to these legislators, or your local congressman. With sexually explicit material involving children so easily accessed by child molestors, it stands to reason that child kidnappings, child murders, and child exploitation will only increase over time. Likewise, young girls taught at such tender ages as 7 or 8 that getting their pictures taken posing in little or no clothing and looking into the camera provocatively is normal, will only send more and more young girls into the practice of unprotected sex, teen pregnacies, std's, and prostitution.

I'm all for baby's, small kids, and teens alike to be involved in legitimate acting and modelling careers. but we must stop pornographers from making millions of dollars off pedaphiles by exploiting children, while hiding under the name of "modelling" agency's.
